Cirque du Noir (www.cirquedunoir.com) – what a blast this was. There were flame jugglers, freaks, fetish chicks, piercings, and fantastic bands. Azure Entertainment presented Cirque du Noir along with several other sponsor and contributing exhibitors from Internext. These companies really know how to throw a party. The event was by invite only, but it wasn’t too hard to get a ticket if you knew who to talk to. We were picked up by a luxury shuttle bus at the Westin (Hollywood, FL) and a short ride later we were dropped off at Club XIT. In front of the club were flame jugglers and stilted freaks (character with horns and colorful speckles). The stilted freak had on Mad Max style metal armor outside, but later removed the armor when it came in side (I wish I had got some shots of it in the armor as it was really well done).
A quick flash of our invites and we were inside. It was packed inside, with familiar faces from the convention. There were several performances going on and one of the first we saw was some body-art via airbrushing, this was great, they really did a good job of taking a good looking lady and turning her into a topless work of art. Some other performances that went on were piercings using hypodermic needles and some fetish dancers. The dancers had on some great outfits, including a bat girl / Succubus style outfit, colorful latex and leather, as well as the obligatory Goth GoGo Dancer. Throw in a little bar top action and the night progressed well.
Of particular note was a really great band, I picked up their CD on the spot. Phoenix/Nebulin (www.phoenixnebulin.com). This group knows how to have a good time and put on a great show. Wednesday’s Child also performed that night and they really did a good job as well (www.wednesdayschildband.com). If I would have had more cash on me I would have picked up their CD as well. I am a big fan of supporting independent artists and content producers – so if you get a chance, give these bands a try as they rocked Club XIT.
It was into the morning hours before we left and Hollywood has the coolest police officers I have ever met. They chatted with us while waiting for the shuttle. They described some of the wild parties they were asked to help with at past Internext conventions including one orgy in a hot tub, where the perps asked the officers to come on in and join them. When you are talking hot porn stars getting it on, that is a hard one to say no to, but they did the right thing (career-wise) and even though it was personally painful, asked them to take it to their rooms. I figure, hey it’s an adult convention; if you don’t want to see stuff like this happening, don’t attend. Go to Sunday school or something else, but let people party. If there is another opportunity to attend Cirque du Noir, you can bet this is one Doctor who will be all over it.
