As you all know by now the Diva recently attended 2 Fantastic expos in Las Vegas. First the Diva spent a few days at Internext at the every hot, very sexy Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. Let me tell you, it was so informative. The Diva attended several seminars and gathered lots of pertinent information regarding the Internet and the porn business. As much as we all enjoy our websites, DVD’s, clubs, etc. this is still and always will be a business, and at Internext®, it was all business. There were many vendors there, such as content providers, financial services companies, affiliate programs, law firms - they were all there showing off their wares, exchanging business cards, doing deals, etc. If you run a porn business or have a business that could be of service to a porn business on the web, Internext is where it’s at.
The second expo and probably the most famous was the AVN® Adult Entertainment Expo. It was held January 6-9 (how apropos), 2005 at the Sands Expo Center which is attached to the ever luxurious Venetian Hotel and Casino. AVN (as it’s known for short) is the best in adult entertainment anywhere, anyplace, anytime. Everyone was there - all of the stars, starlets, hot gay guys, and yes, Larry Flynt. The Diva met and mingled with many stars including Jesse Jane and Devon from Digital Playground. There were hundreds of vendors purveying their wares. There was everything from hot lingerie to incredibly realistic dolls to great S&M equipment (not my cup of tea but Miss Trixx loved it). There was a section specifically for gays called GAYVN. It was in the center of the floor and the Diva strolled thru a few times to check out the hot, hunky, boys, mmmmm…OK back to the review…
There were many booths where all of your favorite porn stars were signing pictures. Many of the big names in porn were there as well as some not so well known ones. The first day of the show was open to trade (remember, this is a business) and press. It was the quietest day but still it was very busy. The second day was more hectic as the fans were allowed in. I have never seen so many tongues hanging out of open drooling mouths well, since my days working…:0
On the second day, the Diva interviewed renowned sex expert, educator, and television host Sue Johanson. She has a new line coming out by Cal Exotics and we talked about it. You can read the interview in another article posted on SiliconSlave.
There were several afterparties but we only attended one which was the Extreme Paychecks Fetish Ball. Talk about a disappointment. It was more like a typical convention party. People in polo shirts and chinos with badges hanging around their necks. Unless they all had leather or latex under their Ralph Lauren, there wasn’t any “fetish” anywhere to be found. The other party we went to was at the Hard Rock. It was billed as a red carpet event but we got there on time and it was so packed there was a line…EVEN for press!!! Forget that, the Diva DOES NOT wait in line for anything or anyone. We were all so tired from all the walking around and the excitement during the days, we spent most of our evenings in the privacy of our rooms, enjoying quiet, wine, and of course lots of sex!!!!!!!
So as a recap, I recommend that EVERYONE go to AVN next year and if you have business dealings in the industry then definitely you should check out Internext.
