The following interview with Mercedez was conducted at an autograph signing event at the grand opening of Phallix™’s Crush (located at 7555 Melrose Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90046) on 26-February-2005.  Dr. Phreakenstein: How big of a role do sex toys play in the adult film industry?  Mercedez: I think it used to be a lot more popular back a few years ago but people got tired of seeing the big plastic dildos and it kind of faded off. Now that Phallix is making these really beautiful glass pieces, it’s a really beautiful thing and it benefits Vivid because Vivid makes beautiful films. They are starting to use them a lot more and if you look on Playboy TV™ – Night Calls they use Phallix glass because of the beauty and that they are unique and different. Its starting to come back but only because its not great big flesh color dildos (which remind you of the 80’s anyways). They are using them again but it’s mostly because of the beauty part of them. Dr. Phreakenstein: So more artistic shots of the toy as opposed to shock value? Mercedez: Right. Dr. Phreakenstein: Speaking of toys, do you have a favorite toy? Mercedez: My Signature Toy is my favorite of course. I think that it is a really good fit - it is not too big, it is not too small, there are so many great things about it. I used to say that the rabbit was my favorite but the material that is made of is not… the glass that Phallix makes is so safe, you can put it in the dishwasher and it is non-porous so you don’t ever catch anything funky. It would be my toy, not just because I endorse it, but because it is the right size, it has something on both ends, and it is clean. Dr. Phreakenstein: Did you have a role in the toy’s creation? Mercedez: No I kind of left it up to the artists to decide on what was going to be designed. I figured that they knew of me and that they had a little background on me, so I would let the artists go with their imagination, better than to come in and say this is I want, this, this and that. With artists it is better to let them do what they want to do with a little bit of information about you. I thought they did an amazing job, it fits me perfect. Dr. Phreakenstein: Do you have any interesting sex toy stories that you could share with our readers? Mercedez: I did Night Calls™ one time and we heated up the glass. We put it in some hot water and the heat stayed on it and I had never had anything hot in me before like that. It was a really good experience. For people that have never had anything hot in them or really cold this is that experience; it is really great. I don’t know how to explain but we did that Night Calls, it was great, it was just an amazing type thing because it was the first time. The first are always great. Dr. Phreakenstein: When using toys, any preferences for lubes or experiences to share with our readers? Mercedez: If it’s worked out right in the beginning, I usually don’t need lubrication. However if we are starting a cold scene Doc Johnson™ puts out some great lubrication, stuff that is really good. There is also some stuff called Sliquid® that I really like.  Dr. Phreakenstein: How
about extreme toys or stuff that you don’t want anywhere near

Dr. Phreakenstein: For some of our readers do you have any recommendations or things to try out to spice up their sex lives? Mercedez: I would definitely say that if you haven’t yet tried to get one of these glass dildos and make it cold and play with it inside of your woman; that is something really erotic and something really different; something new. Heat it up. People have done so much, experimented with vibrators, this is something new. A lot of people don’t know about it and I would definitely say that if you haven’t tried to definitely try it. It is a different experience, it is a different feeling, and it is actually good. Dr. Phreakenstein: Does the toy actually retain its heat? Mercedez: It retains its heat and it retains that coldness too; it’s great. Dr. Phreakenstein: With your work with Vivid™ is there anything that sets them apart from the others? Mercedez: Definitely, Vivid is a very classy company. Everything that they do is couples based. Its beautiful stuff; its not really that harsh gonzo that you look at and go “oh my god, what are they thinking?” or “what are they doing?” It is always that couples-oriented, really pretty sex. You want to see beautiful women having beautiful sex. That’s the fantasy. You don’t want to see some 18 year old girl that looks like she is 15 with a dick in every opening; it is all dirty and messy in some hot room. I don’t want to see that, that is not my fantasy that is something that would turn me on. That is what sets Vivid apart and that is what makes them Vivid – that’s what makes them so great. Dr. Phreakenstein: Some of our readers fantasize about getting into the business. Do you have any words of advice or things they should watch out for?  Mercedez: I have a lot of people that say how do I get into the porn industry - a lot of guys especially? You need to get your girlfriend or a girl, invite all your friends over; all the friends that you can think of; have sex in the room in front of them. All the friends that aren’t going to get offended; if you can do that and stay hard and if you can cum when one of your friends says “okay time to cum” then you should go out and find an agent. Guys that think, “My dick is big enough that I can do porn”; it’s a lot more then that. A lot more goes into it; it is being able to perform in front of people and to cum on cue. Dr. Phreakenstein: How about advice for the ladies? Mercedez: For the ladies, I would just come out to LA and find an agent. For the women it is so much easier; there is always room for women in porn. They come and go so fast. So my recommendation is to come to LA, find an agent and try to get with some of the companies, or try to get a contract first and then hook up with the agents. Dr. Phreakenstein: What is the most memorable location or scene that you have ever shot? Mercedez: I did a scene on top of a Mercedes; I can’t remember what kind of Mercedes but it was a beautiful Mercedes. It was in a movie called Driving Mercedez Wild and it was a scene with me and Julian; that was one of my favorite scenes. It was just really great; I don’t know if it was cause it was on top of a Mercedes or what but it was just a really good scene. It was a really good background. It was a really good vibe; it was really good all around. Dr. Phreakenstein: Any role models or mentors that you look up to or got you into the business? Mercedez: No, I don’t think that I have really looked at anybody. Before I started doing movies, I didn’t watch any films or wasn’t a big fan of porn. I think I had saw Ron Jeremy suck a dick one time before I had got into the business. No there was nobody I really looked up to and thought I really want to do movies. I am not a role model type of girl. I am not really a follower. I decide what I want to do and just go out and do it, the best that I can, not somebody else can. Dr. Phreakenstein: Are there any particular trademark moves or things that you are known for? Mercedez: I have a lot of people tell me “how do I get that rhythm going on top so good.” I guess the rhythm when I am riding on top; I guess that is my thing.  Dr. Phreakenstein: We are wrapping up here, any final thoughts or things that our viewers should watch out for?
