Interview with Devon of Digital Playground

We weren’t expecting to interview Devon of Digital Playground® fame, but due to a delay of our Jesse Jane interview, Digital Playground was nice enough to make the delay a pleasurable experience.  So, on with the interview:

Dr. Phreakenstein:  When working with directors and producers do many of them say lets get some toy shots?

Devon:  Sometimes during girl-girl scenes a lot of directors prefer that you use tongue and fingers.  Toys are more used for photo-shoots.

Dr. Phreakenstein:  Have those photos showed up in any publications?

Devon:  Yes.  I was Penthouse Pet® in January, 2001.  I was on the cover of Huster® in August, 2004.  I have been in Club® numerous times.

Dr. Phreakenstein:  Any particular toys your favorite?

Devon:  I like the Pocket Rocket.

Dr. Phreakenstein:  The Doc Johnson Pocket Rocket ®?

Devon:  I don’t prefer any name brand, just the smaller ones that fit in your hand-bag.

Dr. Phreakenstein:  How about lipstick vibes?

Devon:  Yes they are similar.  I like the Pocket Rocket.

Dr. Phreakenstein:  Do you have or are you working on a line of toys?

Devon:  When I was with Vivid® there was a deal with Doc Johnson®, but now there is a bit of a contract dispute.

Dr. Phreakenstein:  So when that is resolved you hope to come out with a new line of vibes?  Would that be through California Exotics®?

Devon: Yes, also possibly with Phallix.

Devon:  I think they are pretty, really pretty.

Dr. Phreakenstein:  Longevity, they’ll be around for a while kind of like a collector’s item.

Devon:  Yeah, exactly.

Dr. Phreakenstein:  While we are on the toy topic, how about lubes - any preferences or favorites?

Devon:  Spit is my favorite.  It’s all natural.  If my mouth is dry and I can’t spit then KY®.

Dr. Phreakenstein:  What about in your history of the industry have there been any extreme toys that you said keep that thing away from me?

Devon:  As far as like talent?

Dr. Phreakenstein:  Toys

Devon:  Really, really big double ended dildos.  They are like that fat around (3-4 inches in diameter hand gesture).

Dr. Phreakenstein:  Like Doc Johnson makes the Great American Challenge®.

Devon:  Yeah they make white ones and black ones that are that long around (3-4 inches in diameter hand gesture) and that long (about 18 inches hand gesture). That is something I don’t want.

Dr. Phreakenstein:  Look I don’t want to give birth…

Devon:  Exactly, yeah.

Dr. Phreakenstein:  Some of our readers are looking to add some spice to their sex life is there anything that you would recommend?

Devon:  I would say the Pocket Rocket.  I love it.  I take it everywhere I go.

Dr.  Phreakenstein:  How about oral sex in combination with a vibrator, does that work for you?

Devon:  Yeah or check out a cock ring or Viagra®.

Dr. Phreakenstein:  So are there porn stars in the industry that pop a Viagra before a scene?

Devon:  Yeah, it’s saved a lot of male model careers.

Dr. Phreakenstein:  So what sets Digital Playground apart from some of the other companies like you and Robbie D. used to work for Vivid?

Devon:  Digital puts out a different quality of film.

Dr. Phreakenstein:  Is there more planning put into a shot?

Devon:  Absolutely.  Everything is put together better too, like wardrobe, stylist, great locations – things like that.

Dr. Phreakenstein:  Does Digital Playground being a female owned business have anything to do with it?

Devon:  I feel a lot more comfortable coming to management with certain issues.  Management is very approachable.

Dr. Phreakenstein:  So they are hands on, not ivory tower like?

Devon:  Yeah, very supportive.

Dr.  Phreakenstein:  Are there any upcoming films that you are working on that our readers can look forward to?

Devon:  Devon’s Erotique and Pirates.

Dr. Phreakenstein:  Some of our audience are interested in getting into the adult film business, do you have any advice?

Devon:  I have been in the industry 5 years and I still have a lot to learn.  Moving into production or owning a business is a big step.  I plan in continuing to film for a while.

Dr. Phreakenstein:  When shooting for a film, what do you prefer – location or studio work?

Devon:  Definitely location, Tahiti is great.

Dr. Phreakenstein:  Did you have a role model/favorite/mentor that inspired you to get into the business?

Devon:  Money got me into the business; I really try to be my own person.

Dr. Phreakenstein:  So it’s like business then.  Do you have anything that you are famous for – like a signature move?

Devon:  My blow job scenes, I have no gag reflex.

Dr. Phreakenstein:  Kind of like a sword swallower?

Devon:  Yeah.
