Sue Johanson Interview -
Sex Should be Fun
SEX
SHOULD
BE FUN!

That’s
what sex educator,
author, Oxygen network TV host, and now sex toy designer, Sue Johanson
says.
The Diva agrees!!! The Diva was privileged to interview this wonderful
lady and
preview her new line with California Exotic Novelties at the recent
2005 AVN®
Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas, NV. The products (14
in all) are
made with a special silicone that is easy to clean, odorless, does not
transfer,
and just plain feels good. They are fun and colorful and of course,
waterproof….
A must for any gal who loves to take long leisurely bubble baths with
their favorite
toy!
The
Diva: Sue, first I
want to
thank you for taking the time to talk with us today. Our
readers will very
happy to see your thoughts on toys and the adult toy industry
overall. Speaking
of toys, I assume that you basically show the folks how to use sex toys?
Sue:
Yes we do. Yes we do. And
the good parts of the sex toy and the bad parts. So I am
looking for seams
that are hard to clean. I am looking for ease of cleaning
them. I
am looking for attractiveness, for appeal. How hard they are
on batteries. Some
of them just eat them up. And also, something for me, the
packaging is
very important. So that I do not want very, very sexual
implications with
the sex toy. It’s got to be female
friendly. And females really
are not very comfortable with pictures of beaudacious… you
know. And
so they’re much more comfortable with somebody who looks like
them. And
so the packaging will be very plain. It’ll be
pillow-pack, so that
you can see through it, you can see what you are getting. You
don’t
have to open it up. It will have my logo on it. Not
my picture, but
my logo on it.

The Diva:
Great, great. Now are these
all your different sex toys?
Sue:
These are my different sex
toys, yes.
The
Diva: If you could
show me
that would be great. Take a look at these.
Sue:
Well all of them are of the new skin on them. So that
they’re
easy to clean and they have no odor. And so that
they’re nice, they’re
shaped particularly for females. And they can be used for
males. Absolutely
no reason why not. I mean that could be a vibrator, but it
could also be
a butt plug. If you wanted to use it for anal
stimulation. Ah, not
a butt plug, but an anal stimulator. This one we like because
it’s
small. So if you want something that’s
unobtrusive. If
you’re in a sexual relationship and nothing is happening
– it’s
boring! Then you just kind of reach over and grab
this. And you turn
this one on.
This one is used for clitoral stimulation!

The
Diva: Okay.
Sue:
But also around the base of
his penis.
The
Diva: Okay.
Sue:
And around his testicles.

The
Diva: Okay.
Sue:
And up and around his rectum.
The
Diva: Oh!
Sue:
And then if you don’t
have a partner or your partner is busy elsewhere, then you can use this
for penetration,
and this for clitoral stimulation.
The
Diva: Oh!
Sue:
The nice part about this is the
ears split and so they surround the clitoris. So the clitoris
would be
like up in there like that.
The
Diva: Oh, Okay.
Sue:
So that’s getting maximum
action.
The
Diva: Fantastic.
Sue:
Yes, nice remote control,
small, and it has a lot of different functions on it.
The
Diva: Oh, Okay.
Sue:
So, we’re quite impressed
with that one.
The
Diva:
That’s a great
piece. What are these?

Sue:
This one is primarily a vibrator,
but it is primarily a G-spot stimulator. Although, again,
this can be used
for males. Because for anal penetration it would go into the
rectum like
that. This is where it would stop. This would
provide prostatic stimulation,
for the A-spot. And that’s something…
you know… just
pull a condom over that. And its easy to clean and its
colorful and very
appealing.
The
Diva: Yes.

Sue:
And this one is a larger vibrator. It
is for clitoral and vaginal penetration… works very well.
The
Diva: It looks
great.
Sue:
Yes, very nice. This
one is one we designed specifically… altogether different
shape here. Altogether
different… cylindrical, not rounded. A lot of
females don’t
like things that look like a penis, necessarily. And it
doesn’t need
to look like a penis. So they use this one. And
then this one for
clitoral stimulation is just fantastic…
The
Diva: Oh!
Sue:
…because you get triple. Well
and it covers a much larger space too. So this one, and it
has a variety…
The
Diva: Oh I like
that.
Sue:
And it goes in reverse.
The
Diva: Oh!
Sue:
So that you know, if you get
used to one and you’re getting a little bored with it you can
just turn
it around and it goes the other way.
The
Diva: Great.
Sue:
And multispeed vibrations. Now
the other one that we really were impressed with is the Ben Wah
balls. Because
they are very easily washable, the string very easy to clean.
And there
is a nice motion to them. So they can be used vaginally or
anally. They
have a string for easy retrieval. Easy to clean.
They’re a
lot of fun.
The
Diva: Yeah!
Sue:
I don’t know if you’ve
every vacuumed a rug with the Ben Wah balls.
The
Diva: No I have not.
Sue:
Well now there you go. You’ve
got to try it. Because it makes vacuuming practically
painless.
The
Diva:
Really??!! OK,
you know what, I’m going to try that. (laughs)
Sue:
Yes, yes, the Ben Wah Balls.
The
Diva: Maybe
they’ll get
me to vacuum more. (laughs)

Sue:
Well… Now this one is
primarily G-spot stimulation.
The
Diva: OK.
Sue:
And so that it is a little
larger curve there. They’re all soft and flexible.
The
Diva: I like the
way they feel.
Sue:
Yes.
The
Diva: They feel
nice.
Sue:
Sense of balance to them. But
the flexibility so you can’t hurt yourself.
The
Diva:
That’s great.
Sue:
Because I don’t like
hard vibrators that you can do … if you get carried away or
if your partner
gets carried away you can do major damage. So this one is
lovely. For
G-spot stimulation, that one’s great.
The
Diva: Great.
Sue:
And it can also be used for
clitoral, but primarily for G-spot.
The
Diva:
Fantastic. What
is the red one here?

Sue:
This is just another vibrator. But
again it’s soft and very, very flexible. Now this
is for people who
like a larger vibrator. And also, it can be used for rectal,
for anal. For
penetration. Just make sure you put a condom over
it. And it works
very well. It’s great. And it’s
multi-speeds. The
other thing about our toys is waterproof. Because most
females who are
going to pleasure themselves, are going to masturbate, it’ll
be in the
bathroom with the door closed, the lights off, candle light, big bubble
bath,
Harlequin Romance, and a vibrator.
The
Diva: And a
vibrator.
Sue:
And a water-proof one, because
you don’t want one that, you know, once it gets wet
it’s shocking. That’s
why our toys are waterproof.
The
Diva: So this is
your full
line?
Sue:
Oh no, this is just the beginning. There will be more of my toys being
released throughout this year and the years to come!
The
Diva: When will
they be coming
out?
Sue:
Well, the toys are not yet available to the public. They will be in the
stores approximately April 2005. These wonderful items are the
prototypes of the first 14 we're coming out with! Look for them soon!
The
Diva: Oh, okay
great.
Sue:
And we will be adding to it…
The
Diva: Okay.
Sue:
… as we go along. Got
lots of ideas…
The
Diva: Yeah.
Sue:
…it’s just we
didn’t want to do everything all at once.
The
Diva: Sure, sure.
Sue:
We had really set up to do
five and then that was going to be it for the year. We got
carried away
and came up with some great ideas.

The Diva: These
look really cute. Now I see you also have
written a book.
Sue:
I have a book. I have
actually got three books.
The
Diva: Oh you do?!!?
Sue:
Yes I do. But this is
the newest one, and the latest. And it is "Sex,
Sex, and More
Sex."

The
Diva: Great.
Sue:
Have you seen the show?
The
Diva: No, you know
we don’t
get Oxygen.
Sue:
Oh, oh, that’s too bad.
The
Diva: I know, I
know.
Sue:
Well get a friend to tape
it for you.
The
Diva:
That’s what we’ll
do. So tell me a little about your book then.
Sue:
Well the book is alphabetized.
The
Diva: Okay.
Sue:
It’s just information,
facts, sex education information. Because a lot of people
have a lot of
questions and these are based on questions that we’ve had
from both shows
- The Sunday Night Sex Show and Talk Sex. And it goes right
straight through
from “A” to Zoophilia.
The
Diva: Zoophilia?
Sue:
Sex with animals.
The
Diva: Ah.
Sue:
It runs the full gamut.
The
Diva: Great.
Sue:
And it just been… it’s
new and updated.
The
Diva: And what
about your other
books? You said you have three books?
Sue:
I have one book and its called “Talk
Sex” – that’s for kids. Now I
need to do that one again,
I really do. That’s my summer project, but
don’t tell the publishers
that.
The
Diva: No?
Sue:
They’ll hound you to
death.
The
Diva:
I’ll keep it a
secret.
Sue:
Please do. You’re
going to put it on me… yeah right… not
smart! I would like
to redo it. The other one is called, “Sex is
Perfectly Natural, but
Not Naturally Perfect.” At present it’s
sold out, it’s
not available. You can get it on Ebay, I understand, for
about one hundred
twenty five dollars.
The
Diva: Wow!
Sue:
So it’s a keeper.
The
Diva: Great,
that’s great. We
do appreciate your time today.
Sue:
My pleasure.
The
Diva: And thank you
for taking
me on a tour of your products.
Sue:
I’m delighted to show
them off, I’m very proud of them.
The
Diva: And I look
forward to
vacuuming!
Sue:
Okay! (laughs)
